Tonight the Washington National Cathedral will light up in Orange. And all this weekend, we will Wear Orange - and take time to remember all of the victims and survivors of gun violence in our city - and our country.
We Wear Orange to honor the light of our life, Tom. And as the Cathedral is glowing with the Orange light tonight, we know that Tom’s spirit is alive and around us in the place where he walked as a toddler at Beauvoir, in the sky above the soaring tower he looked upon from his beloved Maret, and in the place where we mourned his death and celebrated his life - at his funeral. And while the pain of missing him is so great, the hope for a future free of gun violence must light up all our hearts - and light a fire inside us to do something about it.
Very soon, we’ll be announcing a bold plan to bring new tools and new energy to the fight against gun violence in Washington DC. We hope you’ll join us in helping to shape that plan and deliver upon the very real opportunity to save lives and stop murders before they happen. But right now, remember Tom, remember every victim near and far, and hold out hope for tomorrow, as we keep going in our fight to save lives, heal pain and trauma, and end gun violence.
The pain of gun violence is immeasurable.
The promise of change gives us a small measure of hope.
Our memories of Tom are frozen in time.
Our vision of the future is unfolding before us.
Wear Orange.

Beautiful tribute! Thinking of you both and looking forward to hearing about your plan and new initiative. Xox 💙💙💙
